ACTIVE: 20 min/ TOTAL: 40 min/SERVES: 4

1 tbsp packed light brown sugar

2 tsp paprika

2 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp garlic powder

2 1/2 pounds chicken wings, split, tips removed

Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper

2 tbsp vegetable oil, plus more for the grill

1/2 cup mustard barbecue sauce

Coleslaw, cornbread and/or watermelon, for serving

  1. Preheat a grill to medium. Combine the brown sugar, paprika, cumin and garlic powder in a small bowl. Season the wings with salt and pepper and toss with the vegetable oil in a large bowl. Add the spice mixture and toss until evenly coated.
  2. Oil the grill grates; arrange the wings on the grill and cover. Cook, turning the wings occasionally, until well  browned and cooked through, 20 to 25 minutes. Remove to a large bowl and toss with the barbecue sauce. Serve with the coleslaw, cornbread and/ or watermelon.
