3 pieces slighly ripe plantain or saba
oil for frying
salt and garlic (optional, if using green bananas)
While the oil is heating up ,peel the banana and cut them straight down into 1 inch circle
Fry for about 3 minutes,They should be light golden color and semi soft
Remove the plantain slices with a slotted spoon and drain
Tip: Maintain the oil’s temperature.
When the plantain slices are cool enough to handle (about 1 minute), smash them into flat rounds.
Fry the rounds in the hot oil again. They will turn crisp and golden brown.
Remove the tostones with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towel
Serve with fried fish or steak
Serves: 3-4 people.
