prep: 10 min    cook: 15 min. per batch    makes 2 dozen

1/2cup butter , softened

1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup all purpose flour

1 cup chopped pecans

1. Beat butter and sugar at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; add egg beating just until blended. Add vanilla and mix well.

2. Gradually add flour, beating just until blended. Stir in pecans.

3. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto parchment paper-lined baking sheets.

4. Bake at 350* for 13 to 15 minutes. Cool on baking sheets 1 minute, then remove to racks to cool completely.
